As Khalsa, we are classed as lacto-vegetarians in the western world, as we do not consume any forms of meat, poultry, eggs, and fish or Bi-Products. As well as this, no alcoholic or other intoxicating substances are accepted by Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Therefore, it can sometimes be difficult to know what foods are/are not "Khalsa Approved" The Sevadars at Khalsa Panth Akhara are trying to build a comprehensive online database to help educate Sikhs and preserve Khalsa Reyat and lifestyle.

We Understand that as the Khalsa community grows there will be more and more Gursikhs in the western world and we understand that these gursikhs will start to work and take part in all parts of decent western society such as the workplace or schools, where it can be very hard to avoid hospitality from hosts or even guests. Taking this into consideration it is vital we educate each other to help build a healthy and rehat strong lifestyle, without it affecting our abilty to do parchar in other societies.

There is quite a number of misled people who believe that eating meat or the killing of animals is ok to feed human beings. There stand on this issue is based opon a minute amount of historical evidence stating that there were a small number of sikh people in india who did consume meat, poultry eggs and intoxicants etc. This small number does not even make up 0.1% of the entire Khalsa Panth worldwide, even today. The conclusion we have to explain why these people started to fade away from Khalsa Marayada is that they did not understand their eternal Guru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, but instead started to follow human individuals and their compliation of writings supporting anti-gurmat activities, which we can confidentley state contradicts the writings of the Gurus as stated in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Below is a selection of Gurbani text from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji promoting the Khalsa diet and lifestyle
